Welcome to Shine Nursery
Our Ethos: ‘Shine with self-confidence and self-expression and be ready for all adventures’
At Shine Nursery the staff want children to feel safe, loved, and happy. We promote children’s development through the Early Years Foundation Stage, 7 Areas of Learning.
Our ethos reflects our aim ensure our children do particularly well in the development of their personal, social and emotional skills and also in their communication and language, as these underpin all future learning and life skills. Our staff training and development has a strong focus on these key foundations of learning and in understanding and meeting every child’s individual needs.
Our nursery is inclusive, and we can provide care and learning for all children with Special Educational Needs, sometimes with additional funding from the Local Authority to ensure we have enough staff or specialist resources.
Everyone has a place to Shine.
At Shine Nursery the directors and business manager take responsibility for key business functions to ensure all staff, including the manager, can focus on providing outstanding childcare.
We support all individual staff members to feel valued and highly engaged in their role. There is a particular focus on staff training and development, and everyone has opportunities to further their skills and apply them in practice. We employ staff that are committed to our values.
Our values underpin our practice:
-
Skill development to provide outstanding childcare
-
Honest communication
-
Inclusive and respectful practice
-
Nurturing relationships
-
Energy, enthusiasm, effort, and excitement
Parent Partnership is another key feature of Shine Nursery. We recognise that you know your child’s individual needs best and we ensure that we work together and provide the very best environment that you would want for your child. We follow the babies home routines and have good communication methods.
Our babies (Sunbeam’s room) have an individual home / nursery book, our two’s (Star’s room) have record sheets and letters home each week and our Pre-school children (Rainbow’s room) have weekly letters. All rooms send reports home and meet with parents 3 time a year, but parents can speak to staff at any time (when they are not in ratio with the children) Parents can also benefit from our Parent Offer
We appoint experienced staff who already have a clear understanding of safeguarding practices and child development. The manager and staff reflect on daily practice to ensure the children are well cared for, happy, engaged and learned. You can get to know a little bit more about the staff here: Meet the staff
There is also a strong emphasis on the nursery development and each half term the director and manager observe practice and reflect with staff, again to ensure the children have the best environment, activities, and resources for learning. We have an ambitious, broad, and exciting curriculum that helps children progress through themed learning as well as through staff following their interests. We also have celebration days and special events. Learning and Curriculum
